Germany here we come!

So, the new news is that we're officially headed to Germany. We'll be there for about 6 months, in Bavaria. I'll be leaving late July early August, and after figuring out living arrangements, Ashley will fly over to join me. For those that haven't heard, this trip is with the military, helping train a unit stationed in Germany. So, this blog will start having adventures in Europe posted. Ashley also now has a blog: www.astegherr.blogspot.com

Btw, congrats to Spain on their win over Germany in the Euro Cup 2008 today.

Well, my research on the Stegherr name has paid off. Your Great Great Grandma was a Berger and her father was born in Peilaubei, Reichenbach, silesia, Prussia. His wife was born in Grebenhagen, Hessen. Now you have two places to check out when you get to Germany.

I was just surfing the web for my ancestors and Lynn's comment came up.

My great grandmother was born Mary Berger (1857) ST. CLAIR, MI, and her father was Carl Ernest George Berger (1822) PEILAUBEI, REICHENBACH, SILESIA, PRUSSIA. We may be related!

If this is your grandmother, whe married Otto Diem whose family came from Middle Franconia, Bavaria.

Get in touch with me if you feel like it, especially if you've got access to the family tree stretching further back.

Regards,

Ian (ian@thedouglassfamily.com)

I have done some research on the Stegherr familly tree. Ian's great great great grandfather was Casper Stegherr who married Katherine Berger. Katherine was sister to Mary Berger.

Their father was Carl Ernest George Berger who married Anna Eva Heussner. Her parents were Johannes Heussner and Elizabeth Fink. Johannes parents were Johann Heinrich Heussner and Elizabeth Kiem. This is far back as I've been able to trace. Since all of Ian's grandparents are gone, I didn't have any family members to help. But yes, you are indeed cousins.

I've sent you an invitation to view what I have of the family tree at My Heritage website. It has the dates that I know. Going back gets sketchy.

Ian's Mother, Lynn Tucker Stegherr
